BELIEVE IN TOMORROW - HAVE A GARDEN!!

  • I started my gardening journey a few years back when I shifted to a much bigger flat with an attached terrace, and I have started with ornamental plants like Song of India, Ereka Palm, Deffenbachia, Pothos or Money plant, Snake plant, etc.

All these above varieties of plants are air purifiers as well as easy to maintain.

Within a few months, I bought seeds of a few herbs and started with Tulsi, mint, basil, lemon grass, wheat grass, etc.

I was overwhelmed to see the results within a few days by having saplings of a few of them and started consuming them after around 15-20 days.

That feeling can not be explained in words and then there was no looking back.

Microgreens are the best part that happened to me while experiencing gardening [we will discuss that in the next blog].

Few things I have learned during my journey and would like to share it so that my readers get to benefit from my experience.

1 - Start small, in fact very small as with few plants, first get acquainted with it, start taking care of it and when they will be a part of life and daily routine, then think about another one. Additionally do not invest much in equipment at the initial stage and keep it minimum, but I would surely recommend a good sprinkler to mist your plants.

2 - Choose a place with adequate sunlight. Most of the plants need 3-4 hours of sunlight at least to grow in a decent way.

3- Research your plant well like how it will grow in the next few months and buy the appropriate pot to avoid changing them frequently.

4- Use good soil as the soil is the nutrition that helps any plant to grow and gives fruits and flowers. Your soil should be active and should be mixed with the right proportion of compost, cocopeat, and perlite if needed.

5- You can start the propagation of a few herbs and money plants, snake plants, and many other plants in water to avoid buying them and maintain a budget garden. Buy one plant and make many out of that and enjoy your greens as well as gift generously.

6 - Set a clear and disciplined watering schedule. It depends on the sunlight received by the plants and outside weather like sunny or rainy days.

7 - Moreover, enjoy your garden as it's therapeutic and provides a lot of freshness and positivity in your life. In addition, you can avoid a ton of chemicals by growing and consuming your own homegrown food.

So let's start gardening in whatever available space at your place and keep ourselves healthy and work towards the betterment of the environment.

you will find a series of blogs on gardening, stay tuned!!
